The brief

Language and clan references are often locked in printed books or scattered across the internet. Kika Kyo was built to put a Luganda dictionary and a guide to Buganda names and clans into a single app that works offline and fits in a pocket.

What we built

  • A Luganda dictionary with English–Luganda translation.
  • A reference for Buganda names and clans.
  • A browsing and search experience designed for quick lookups.
  • An Android app published on the Google Play Store.

How it works

The content is the product, so the engineering work went into making it easy to navigate: clear categories, fast lookups, and a layout that stays readable on a small screen. The app was built native for Android and shipped through Google Play.

Outcome

A cultural reference that travels with its readers, instead of requiring a bookshelf at home.
